AIRCOOLED CLASSICS - VW & PORSCHE |
KOMBI LIFE - VW CAMPER AND BUS MAGAZINE |
|
A little bit about our VW & Porsche magazine and our new T2 VW magazine. Aircooled Classics is a VW Magazine and a Porsche magazine rolled into one, with a twist. You would expect it to have feature material that covers models like the VW Beetle, VW Bus, VW Karmann Ghia and all the other VW aircooled models on the one hand, and the Porsche 356, Porsche 914, Porsche 912 and Porsche 911 aircooled models on the other. Sure. But what you wouldn't expect is a sub-section in the magazine that covers the newer VW and Porsche models. We've called this Evolution Extra and it relates to the New Beetle, latest Porsche 911 and Porsche Boxster models. Plus, it includes feature material on the current Porsche racing vehicles and, when appropriate, racing drivers and results. It comes as no surprise to learn that the publishers of the magazine are Pitstop Publishing. Well, with a name like that Porsche motorsport was bound to be included! Kombi Life is a more exacting VW magazine. It concentrates on all models of the VW Transporter range: VW Split Screen T1 adored by all, the humble world-beating VW Bay Window T2 that saw VW become a real global enterprise with an 'action' van that could go almost anywhere with 2WD where others feared to drive, and the more commercially biased VW T25 / T3 model that covered the Eighties and Nineties period with a certain robustness. 4WD versions of the VW T3 proved that when a van met the end of the road, the VW Syncro 4WD van could take up the reins and continue the journey with ease. A formidable machine from Volkswagen! The T25 / T3 was the turning point for VW as it pin-points the moment when aircooled became watercooled, and the 2 litre engine capacity ceiling was at long last broken. The VW T4 moved in the direction of the contemporary car as designers deliberately incorporated elements seen first in the small car models, although to some degree they had managed this with the Mk 1 Golf and VW T25 to some extent. The effect was to introduce a level of familiarity not seen before across the range. A VW van was now just a larger version of a VW car, and the engine moved to the front of the vehicle where clearly it was to cement the familiarity once and for all. VW car and VW van each had a hood! And eventually the VW T5 would wrap-up the current playing field, it being at first similar to the VW T4, but with about a decade between most of the models (although the VW Split Screen T1 van did run in Europe for over 17 years!) the difference between the VW T4 and VW T5 vans is quite considerable. Evolution of the VW van design is clear for all to see, and whatever model is your personal favourite is sure to be covered in Kombi Life VW magazine. But, as you would expect from Pitstop Publishing, there's more. VW Shows, VW Camper Recipes, VW Video reviews, VW Book reviews... VW Life! As the title of the magazine makes very clear, a Kombi Life emagazine will reflect the lifestyle choices of the VW camper, VW Bus, VW pickup and VW Kombi owner. Each magazine is availble to purchase through its individual website. Click on a front cover and be transported. Each is for sale through the Apple iTunes store as well as various other outlets for all your digital devices. Are we reproduced in a paper magazine format? No, we've decided to go it alone and look to the future. As such, our magazines are beautifully designed to look good on the screen with better type-faces for easier reading, and crisper details than you would ever find in a paper magazine e-replica. All the advertisers are hot linked to their websites, a very useful feature impossible to produce with such ease on paper (click and go, click back to return), and of course the magazines contain the latest in embedded video technology. They are also laid out better than paper magazines with larger graphics and images, and as such run over a considerable number of pages. It's all in the detail! Kombi Life issue 1 is a staggering 180 pages, but Aircooled Classics tops that at well over 200 pages an issue! You'll never look at a proper digital VW magazine in the same way again. And, of course, each magazine is priced considerably less than what its paper equivalent would have been, and we feel that's very important. You don't have to buy a full paper subscription to get a so-called free digital magazine subscription! A single copy of Kombi Life starts at just £1.99, and Aircooled Classics at £2.99. US$ rates and AUS$ are noted on each website home page. Enjoy! To find out more about VW magazines in general visit www.vwmagazines.com |
